My six year old son was rummaging through my cds and pulled out some Alice Donut. After putting on "Fuzz" he asked if it was music of kids, I told him, "sure"

He loves what we let him listen to (Mom won't let him listen to "Revenge Fantasies of the Impotent", even though it's his favorite cover, GUNS, not because of subject matter, but because she doesn't want to explain what the word "impotent" means) and the first thing he does when he gets up in the morning is put on "Fuzz".

Just ordered "Ten Glorious Animals", can't wait......

If he likes Fuzz he'll love Animals. I think it's good to play your kids such music, a lot better than the prescribed childrens' music that's designed to make them grown up "normal".

I let my daughter (six on Valentine's Day) listen to Ten Glorious Animals and some of Fuzz (little monkey). Then there's some stuff I play from the other albums but it's very few and far between on account of not wanting her to start saying things like "cock."

It's the same with most stuff, I tend to either cycle through what I think will be appropriate or make playlists even though I much prefer listening to albums not tracks.

We actually don't let our 3 & 7 year old listen to all the songs we do eather. For the same reason as Jaleeb, especially our 3 year old is a sponge for picking up bad words. Little monkey was actually inspired by our daughter and is also one we let them hear. "Up is Down" off "three sisters" is another good one for kids, as is "Carolina" and "The better me" on Fuzz. On ten glorious animals the one I won't let them hear is "Wide", although they might have heared it during recording.

I played American Lips to my friend's 1 year old and he was bouncing up and down with joy......clearly this won't be an option when he starts talking though.

Luckily, the boy has been focused on "Little Monkey" and "Cropduster", so we're safe. We don't want to give too much power to "curse" words, but we don't want him to use "motherfucker" as a space filler, either. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

I suppose this is a good time to go through the collection and remove all the discs that have covers that could be considered an attractive nuisance. Damn you "Locust Abortion Technician"!

It was Warlock Pinchers for my kid age 1-3... 4-5 it was Hanson Brothers (No More Head Cheese became No More Wedgies) but that was just because they were hyper active get flipped around upside down dance songs. I wasn't to concerned with language in songs when she got a little older 96-12)- it's a matter of context- hearing it in a movie or song is different than hearing your Pops use it-But whenever I was on the phone to a friend it was "fuck" this and "fuck" that- I couldn't help myself! But I didn't use it when talking to her and she had the courtesy to not use it around me when she got older.... except when it was directed at me.

But don't listen to me- we went and saw Anal Cunt together when she was 15

Tipper Gore was the one I was thinking of when I said "cock". Also, one time I was working and she came in and DK's Pull My Strings was in it's chorus, so cock is unsurprisingly a word I want to avoid. Plus, she's my daughter so if she never learns that word her whole live I'll be thrilled.

If the content is good art, I don't mind a bit of naughty words or imagery, but if it's really violent, too much about dating or sex I steer clear (though if the word is pretty unintelligible, I don't mind or I talk over it). I should mention that my wife has a pretty decent mouth and I say "fuck" CONSTANTLY. However, it's one of the few things I've managed to keep from doing of my daughter where my wife's responsible for my daughter saying stuff like, "crap" and "aw nuts" and "I hate this" and things I just don't want her to say. She'll have plenty of time to hate when she's older.

My daughter's favorite non-kids show music is TMBG, Matt & Kim, Weezer and she LOVES the Ramones. I let her watch alot of Batman stuff that's slightly violent (not really the movies, but the cartoons and games and the spanish version of Batman & Robin with Clooney that she thinks is a comedy), but I wouldn't let her watch something less violent that had less "substance."

BTW, Fuzz came out when my daughter was around one and she was all over the place and starting to get into trouble and it was just the perfect soundtrack for her little runabouts and she used to get so excited during the chorus. I might have some video, I should try to dig it up.

When my boy was about 9months, he used to love the entire "Wisconsin" album by the Crucifucks. Dunno if it was Doc Dart's astonishing vocals, but now that he's nearly 4 this hasn't been on for a while. The kids got good taste tho

My first child was born only 20 days ago, thoughts of appropriateness of my musical choices, until now, have not entered my head. In fact i hadn't even thought of putting on a little donut to sooth the troubled child. The whole of Pure Acid Park will do nicely me thinks. Language at this point in time is probably not of a huge concern, yet it is never to early to indoctrinate with culture.

My kids have heard that album about a million times growing up. I let my children swear because I'm not religious.

Really digging "Ten Glorious Animals". Of course on the first track the boy said "When is it going to get cool?" and, the dangers of taking a shower for work and leaving the child unattended, he loves "Wide", as do I. Good times.

when i sing..."something has come between us..." my two year old son screams, "EGG!!"

i cry and kiss his cheeks and it's wonderful. we can't even have a conversation yet.

he also had down one or more verses to the following:
ramones: blitzkrieg pop (the actual verse not just the chorus)
GBV: teenage FBI and glad girls
luna: 23 minutes in brussels
